Welcome to Unrelated;

I’m a relatively small person; but balled up in my 5 feet and 1 inches (the inch is debatable apparently), are more than a few strong opinions (love tea, hate velvet), the odd big idea, lots of small thoughts and thanks to my thirty odd years on this earth so far, a decent smattering of knowledge and experience. 

All in all, it’s a lot to keep to myself, and as my friends, family and favourite person will tell you, I do like to talk things out. The trouble is, they could all probably do with a break from time to time, and so here we are. I’m starting my very first blog.

Well, my very first blog that’s got my name on it, Rachael, by the way, hi. 

Monday to Friday, I work in a digital agency and I look after strategy, marketing and performance, so I’m no stranger to writing a blog or two. What is weird, is this is the first time I’ll be writing blogs that don’t need to go through an approval process! So we’ll have to see how that goes. 

If you consider marketing my work, then making things is my hobby. I confess, I’m no purist when it comes to crafting and creating. I’ll pretty much have a go at anything, but some skills that I have been practising for a long time include sewing, drawing and in recent years, making alternative christmas decorations and my own handmade crackers. Which I guess reveals two more things about me; I love Christmas, and I really like making things for other people. 

I’m also partial to things in miniature, a good crime thriller or Stephen King horror story. I value small joys, collective nouns are a constant source of such joys. Fashion wins are another, if I can find things short enough to fit. Good packaging, stylish stationery, food - especially cheese, taking photos (I’m not great but my best friend and favourite person are - please consider this their credit for all the photos you’ll find of me here) and last, and what I guess what sums it all up, is that I like and love lots of generally unrelated things.

So that’s what you can expect from Unrelated; marketing insights, making mishaps (and sometimes successes) and odds and ends covering just about anything else I like, can’t stand or need to talk (type?) out.
